This is possible because every AirTag has a unique serial number that’s associated with an Apple ID. It will inform users that tracking people without consent is a crime and that law enforcement can request the identifying information about the owner of the AirTag.Īpple also said it’s been actively working with law enforcement on all AirTag-related requests it receives, and noted it’s able to provide the account details in response to a subpoena or other valid law enforcement request. This warning aims to deter people from using AirTags for anything other than tracking their own personal belongings, as intended.

The company announced it will soon implement a series of updates to both AirTags and the Find My network, initially beginning with new privacy warnings, alerts and documentation. Today, Apple is responding to feedback from consumers, safety experts and law enforcement agencies with plans to change how AirTags work. Following the AirTags’ spring 2021 introduction, numerous media reports and updates from local police departments have warned of incidents where AirTags were being used for unwanted tracking, including of people and valuable property - like cars thieves intended to steal. It felt comforting to see both of them next to plane and they eventually moved to the terminal.Apple today is announcing a series of coming updates for AirTag and the Find My network aimed at addressing the problem of AirTag accessories being used to stalk individuals or people’s property without their knowledge or consent. Also our bags were delayed in Glasgow along with about another 20 guests.

After checking bag I check before board and feel comfortable when it shows on tarmac next plane. I turn off the notification that I left it behind. My intention with the air tags is just to hopefully have an idea where are bags are, if there is an issue, but I hope to not have to use them ("knock on wood").įor the bags you are checking in, you will want to turn over the option that sends you a message letting you know the air tags are not with you! going and talking to them about the missing bag). I think I will wait until we are at the baggage claim waiting for the bags to look, as that is really the only time it matters and you can do anything about it (i.e. There was a story (maybe on these boards) where someone said it sometimes takes awhile to update, so they thought their bags were in a different airport and then it finally updated and the bags were on the plane with them. I think you could drive yourself crazy if you were also checking on them. My plan is to not actually track them all the time, and to only use them if needed. I had an airtag in place before checking the luggage in for the return flight, and it gives peace in mind to know, the luggage is onboard ? It's not funny to wear the same t-shirt and shorts for four days on a cruise, and i will advise everyone to pack extra clothes in their carry on. If i knew the bag was left in the departure airport, i had bigger chances to getting it sent to me earlier, and because a cruise is moving it's not so easy. It was first when it arrived at the arrival airport two days later that i've got a call from them telling me the bag had arrived. The first two days nobody knew where the bag was. I had a bag delay in may, where it was delayed for four days. Well, in fact the airline dosen't always know that. Especially if your bags are in airport A and you are now in airport B. However if your bag is one of hundreds sitting somewhere delayed, you are not going to convince a single person to go look for your specific bags. The airline will also know when it was scanned last. You may know your bags last reported location.
